About Jane Jesmond

I have lived in France for the last thirty odd years, initially down in the south in the Nice, Cannes and Monaco areas and, more recently, at the end of the earth (or Finistère) where I write every morning in between staring out at the sea and making cups of tea. My family comes from Cornwall, the setting for my debut novel On The Edge, and my love of the Cornish landscape and culture dates back to childhood holidays in Charlestown the historic port which doubled as Truro Harbour in ‘Poldark’ and where my grandfather was vicar.

I have two cats, one husband and a wonderful blended family of three sons, one daughter and six grandchildren, inconveniently scattered in every corner of the UK.

Although I write crime, mystery and thrillers, my real life is very uneventful. No dead bodies or dangerous exploits. I spend my time reading, writing and walking the coastal paths.

My other love is amateur dramatics and I’ve played the Wicked Stepmother in a play about Snow White’s life after divorcing Prince Charming and marrying Grumpy, an Englishwoman who has mistaken a Parisian brothel for an orphanage, Calamity Jane and a crazed journalist.

I love hearing from readers and am very happy to join book club or writers group meetings via Zoom, Facetime, or any other meeting software. You can contact me via my Contact page on this site or catch up with me on Facebook or Twitter.
